Hello, I'm Al.

Welcome to my website, which features my self-initiated artwork and freelance commissions.

I'm a graphic designer for a greetings card publisher and a graduate in Illustration from the University of Lincoln in Hull (First Class BA Honours).

My artwork is focused on characters and narrative illustration - I enjoy drawing stories, comic strips and pictures with a touch of humour, such as incongruous combinations of people, animals and places, odd conversations and situations, and generally friendly satire of everyday life.

I create posters on a regular basis for local music promoters and have contributed to various small-press publications, and attend comic fairs where I sell my own comics, cards and merchandise.

My work is based on much observation and rough sketches, hand drawing and digital colouring.
